Aims and Objectives
Robinsons Canterbury Motorcycle Club (RCMC) formed in 2007. It aims to protect,
improve and encourage the interests of motorcycling within the South East of England.
RCMC endeavours to meet the requirements of all members, irrespective of the make, size
or type of motorcycle they own. It will organise club runs, outings and events throughout
the year.
Committee
RCMC shall comprise the following committee posts:
- Chairperson
- Vice Chairperson
- Membership Secretary
- Treasurer
- Web Site Administrator
- Fund Raising
- Event/Ride Out Administrator
- The management of the club shall be the duty of the committee. Sub-committees may be formed as deemed necessary by the committee.
- The committee shall comprise as many members as is deemed necessary to maintain and fulfil the needs of the club and its members.
- The committee shall at the Annual General Meeting present a report and balance sheet on club fund raising and expenditure. Two members, elected at the Annual General Meeting, will audit this report.
- The committee shall fill any vacancies that may occur between Annual General Meetings.
- Any member of the committee failing to attend THREE consecutive meetings without explanation will be deemed to have resigned.
- A minimum of four committee members is required for the purpose of committee meetings.
Rules
- That the club be known as “Robinsons Canterbury Motorcycle Club” (RCMC).
- The club shall consist of persons who are considered eligible under club rules.
- All members, having signed the RCMC Member Application Form, endorse their acceptance of the club rules, claiming ignorance of them will NOT be accepted as an excuse for any breach thereof.
- The committee shall upon request provide clarification on the meaning of any club rules.
- The committee may do whatsoever they deem necessary for the well being of the club provided it is not inconsistent with these rules. The decision of the committee shall be final in all matters.
Membership
- Any person wishing to join the club will complete the Member Application Form and submit it, with the required subscription, to the membership secretary. The committee reserve the right to accept or reject any application without reason being given.
- All applicants will receive, if elected, a copy of the club rules. These rules will also be available for viewing on the club web site.
- All elected members will receive a Membership Card as proof of membership and any supplemental information regarding the Club events for the forthcoming year.
- The annual subscription shall be fixed at the annual general meeting, payable on application for membership and on renewal at the start of the clubs financial year. The club year is from 1st January to 31st December. The subscription does not include any club regalia, patches or badges whatsoever.
- The club logo may only be displayed or worn by fully paid-up members. Any
person ceasing their membership with RCMC for any reason shall not be eligible to display the club logo.
- Club events (where prizes, trophies etc are given) will only be open to fully subscribed members or members of direct family where announced by the
committee.
- Every member duly elected is bound to abide by the club rules, and any modification thereof notified to them in writing, made in conformity with such
rules.
- In the event of a breach of club rules by a member, or conduct on the part of a member rendering it desirable that the member should cease to be a member, a meeting of the current committee shall be convened to inquire as to whether a reason for expulsion has occurred or not. In the event of any member being, in the opinion of the committee, in breach of club rules or guilty of conduct undesirable to the aims and objectives of the club, such as reckless riding or behaviour prejudicial to the interest of motorcycling, the member shall be called before the committee and, failing satisfactory explanation, be cautioned or suspended, or be required to resign their membership. No member shall be expelled without the support of at least two-thirds of the full members present at the following club meeting. The member will be given the opportunity to defend themselves to the members at the meeting. No refund of subscription will be offered on expulsion.
Competitions
- Any event or competition will be run under the general competition rules of the relevant governing body. The RCMC committee shall decide if supplementary rules are required.
- Two committee members who have not taken part in the event as a competitor shall check the result of any competition. No results will be issued until this has been done.
- The decision of the committee members is final.
Riding Rules
- Club runs shall start from such places as notified by the committee, generally Robinsons Foundry.
- Runs will start punctually at the time notified.
- Alternative meeting places can be agreed at the discretion of the committee.
- Latecomers should meet at the first stopping point.
- A designated member or committee member who will regulate the pace will lead club runs. At no time should other members without prior notice pass this person.
- “2nd man drop-off” shall be adopted on club runs where appropriate.
- Any member wishing to proceed at their own pace (either faster or slower) should inform the run leader before the start of the run. Meeting places and estimated times should be agreed to allow regular accounting of all participants.
- Should any participant on a run not appear at an agreed meeting place within a specified time, all other participants shall wait together until the run leader has located the missing person.
- It is recommended, although not compulsory, that all members take out breakdown recovery. This would avoid disruption to the group in the event of such breakdown. Assistance will be given to members without breakdown recovery where possible and reasonable.
- Participants on a run shall at all times conduct themselves in a safe and proper manner. Participants will adhere to current road traffic legislation with compliance to the Highway Code.
- A safe distance should be maintained between vehicles while travelling in a group.
- Neither the club (RCMC) nor any of its committee shall be liable for any accidents or legal penalties incurred by participants whilst involved with runs. Non-members or guests, including pillions, are deemed by the club to agree to be bound by the club rules.
It is the duty of each participant of a run to ensure that their vehicle is roadworthy, legal and that they are in possession of any necessary insurance.
Meetings
- The club will hold a members meeting on the SECOND Wednesday of each month at a venue advised on the Member Application Form. The Chairperson will address the club members to advise of matters relating to the running of the club.
- A committee meeting will be held on the FOURTH Wednesday of each month.
Members are welcome to attend such meetings provided that they do not interfere with the meeting agenda. At the discretion of the Chairperson members will be invited for their input during ‘Any Other Business’ (AOB)
- The Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held in December each year. All
members will be entitled to attend and will be given due notice of venue, time and date of the meeting.
- Notice should be given to the Chairperson of any proposals for the AGM agenda FOURTEEN DAYS prior to the meeting. An agenda will be given to all attending members of any such meeting before commencement.
- The committee can call a Special General Meeting (SGA) at any time or upon the request of at least TEN members. The SGA will be held within TWENTY-ONE days of request.
Finance
- The funds to be banked in the name of “Robinsons Canterbury Motorcycle Club”.
- All expenditure, however small, to be approved by at least TWO committee
members. All expenditure over £20 (TWENTY POUNDS) to be approved by the committee majority, i.e. seven members of committee, four must approve.
